Chips, I remember you made a post a while ago with a movie of yours in it (you were an engie defending alone in epicenter if I remember correctly) but in that thread you also explained how to extract movie footage from your demos.
I searched and searched and searched for it again but could not find it. Maybe it was lost in the pruning? I really don't know. But could anyone help me out with this? Just curious... |

Couple ways.
PLay the demo and use something like FRAPS.
Or, play the demo, then do
startmovie mymovie 30
30 being 30 FPS
It'll now save LOADS of HUGE bmp files.
Go into 800x600 resolution first.
Take all those bmps (only do one "play" at a time, unless you have dozens of free gigs) into VideoMach and make them into an AVI.

I made that years ago with SK Player. It played the demo and produced those thousands of bmp files like Aud mentioned. It doesn't work with steam. These days, I'd find it far easier to use Fraps to capture the action. Windows Movie Maker is fine...but I prefer Vegas Video. It really all depends on the output you want. Vegas has a superior mpeg encoder that is super fast. I prefer mpeg2 DVD quality for my personal use.
The one I posted here was video CD quality...very low grade stuff. But a codec that everyone has, is easily played by most software and file sizes are very small. Either wmv or Divx are popular codecs to use for avi's. But I don't believe Windows Movie maker handles Divx. Xvid is another widly used codec for avi's now...I don't like it.
Fraps and Vegas Video > all |

Does anyone happen to have a registered version of fraps?
If so, mind sliding the installer under the table to me? |

Also, I thought I remembered someone mentioning a certain way to watch demos in which you could fast forward, rewind, slow down, etc.
Could I get some enlightenment on that?
Also, sorry.wav for the triple post |

Instead of "playdemo"....you want to "viewdemo". |

And please.
PLEASE.
When recording demos, get rid of crosshair and people talking. Getting rid of the death notices would help too, and most people don't like seeing HUDs in movies. |
