Just my little two cents:
I've been away from CfH for like, a week or two and when I come back(ish) and its a profanity storm brewin up everywhere! I swear, I think every thread I have read today has included F*** this, F*** that, you b****, etc etc.
It's always been my experience that excessive cursing illustrates a lack of vocabulary and thusly ignorance in a person. Ya'll are smarter than this, keep it clean guys... please? |

It's not profanity. it's asteriks. Theres a difference.
The reason why i say s**t or **** in the server or here is because of the asteriks... now, if we didnt have asteriks to block it, i wouldnt say it. But since we do, i feel free to. JUst me thinking. |

LOL! that made me laugh so hard. Yeah psycho you make a good point, but at the same time, all of the swear words ARE bleeped out, showing no actual textual profanity in any post. |

A comparison:
In television- A woman is shown nursing her child, one breast exposed. This is censored because she is exposed.
Another woman who is wearing a strip of tape across her nipples with heavy makeup and very obvious sexual premise, is not.She is considered "covered".
Yes this is open to what source, channel, time of day etc, but I'm sure you get my point.
Those little stars dont hide anything. we all know whats there. I dont dissaprove the use of the words, just the frequency with which they are being used. We have to express our emotions somehow, after all. It would be nice if the words still had meaning when we needed them though. |

Those little asterisks are there to mask or cover up the occasional slip. I agree with teh Chick that it's getting a little more edgy around here...with language and links to pics.
Please pay attention to the forum rules that don't allow this. I add words to the word censor as I see them...there's no grand list that covers everything. Every time I see something out of line...I add it to the filter. I would still much prefer, as Psycho eluded too...that you use your intelect and good choice of words to get your point across. Anyone can use profanity...it's not cool, l337 or necessary. |
