Voice over IP (VoIP) changed everything. CALEA was easy when all voice communications were simply voice communciations. But as soon as someone figured out how to stuff a voice sample into an IP packet, the ability of the Fed to intercept voice was severely impaired. Interesting to note they want the same access to upcoming airline broadband.
I'd like to hear more details on exactly what "tappability" in consumer broadband actually entails. |
