Do you use any scripts that may override the bind on that key?
How are you checking that it's bound to +forward? |

by typing bind "w" in console, shows me what it is bound to. ive never used scripts before so i figured id try one, i tried a automatic reload script which was a movement one with reloads with i move with w a s d, but i only did w and now its all jacked up. |

Below is a typical "movement" reload script...it's the one I use.
alias +f "+forward;+reload"
alias -f "-forward;+reload;wait;-reload"
alias +b "+back;+reload"
alias -b "-back;+reload;wait;-reload"
alias +l "+moveleft;+reload"
alias -l "-moveleft;+reload;wait;-reload"
alias +r "+moveright;+reload"
alias -r "-moveright;+ reload;wait;-reload"
bind "w" "+f"
bind "s" "+b"
bind "a" "+l"
bind "d" "+r"
W should be bound to the alias of "+f"... not +forward. I'm not sure what you mean by "I only did the W" ... but the bind is wrong to begin with and I don't know what other parts of it you changed. I'm assuming you only wanted to reload using your forward key. If so, cut and past this into your config file:
alias +f "+forward;+reload"
alias -f "-forward;+reload;wait;-reload"
bind "w" "+f"
Leave all other movement keys to their default binds.
I would recommend using the script in it's entirety and you'll have no problems. There's plenty of instances when backing up or moving sideways that I'm glad I'm reloading. Or, remove the script entirely and bind the keys as normal ... +forward, +back...etc. With either option, when you press W...you'll move forward. |

DON'T put that script in your config.cfg file...only have it in your autoexec.cfg file if you'll use it for all classes.
Better yet...I don't know how many realize you can creat a file called userconfig.cfg...and place generic binds in there. I prefer this method myself.
You can also create class specific configs....spy.cfg, engineer.cfg...etc.
Several of my binds are specific to one class...so I wouldn't want them in my autoexec or userconfig files. |

When you saved the autoexec.cfg file...did you select "all files" from the dropdown menu? If not, you may have saved it incorrectly. If you're editing that file in notepad...make sure you select "all files" instead of text file when you save.
Are you sure you got rid of any trace of the original script? |
