My book, "Random Thoughts From A Diseased Mind(Not For Dummies)", will be available in a few weeks. The above is a link to the publisher's bookstore, which will probably have the lowest price, retail websites will be higher.
I don't think I mentioned it here before, but I have been a writer of various things for several years. This work is my first commercially published endeaver. I have written a couple of short stories(most commonly known is my crossover story between the original Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek:Next Generation), and I'm working on several other novels, as well as a follow-up to this first published book. I am also writing a screenplay, which I'm hoping to get a local director interested in.
This is a humour book, which holds nothing back. My humour style is a very biting and sarcastic look at life in general.
You can view the entire cover(front and back), here: http://home.comcast.net/~johnandrose3000/wsb/media/323406/site1084.jpg
I am not only promoting the book at the forums I frequent, but I am making an offer........Anyone who buys a copy and wants it signed, I will sign it for free if you are willing to cover the cost of shipping. I will sign any copies I receive, and ship them back out next day, so as to minimize time. I will have details about cost later this weekend(of the book itself), and I will only ask for shipping costs to be covered(both ways) for anyone who wants theirs signed. |

Woah.....I don't think I could ever have the patientce to write a book, I'd write it out on paper, then not want to type it on a computer to help correct it and stuff >.<
Congrats on getting it published. |

I found the previews interesting...reminds me a little of George Carlin.
Best of luck with this... |

Demasu - It does take patience. I wrote this book in 2002-3, and most of it was stuff I came up with while nowhere near a computer. I had to write little notes(which pissed my boss off once in a while), so I'd remember what I had come up with. At one point, I'd written a bunch of stuff on the back of an order sheet I was working on, and had to "liberate" it from the office before anyone spotted the stuff.
Chips - I've been told that, actually. I didn't want to drop the name and make everyone think I was being "egotistical"....but several people who read bits and pieces while it was still a work in progress said the same thing. Considering that Carlin IS my favorite comedian, and in some ways, a role model...I take that as a compliment(though I doubt he would.)
StaR - Sorry, but the only freebies I can swing are the autographs. Good luck with your novels, and if you find no one wanting to publish it, let me know. Despite what some people say, "Publishing on demand" isn't a bad way to go.
Everyone else - Thanks for the votes of confidence, and the well wishes. This definitely isn't something for the kids, or the easily offended. I've been working my ass off on this project for several years, and now you know why I haven't been on very often. These last few months have been crazy with my normal job, designing the cover, getting everything right(and there are STILL some damned typo's in the thing...I'm just letting them go, at this point). Plus the other projects I'm working on...
I'll let you all know when it becomes available. |

My main problem would be remembering anything, during the day I'll have some awesome(at least they're awesome to me) ideas, but by the time I either get something to write on/with or at a good place to write out the idea, I've forgotten it. I've made some short stories(really short actually, most average about half a page) and I'm told that they're not bad, but I don't believe that fully.... Looks like I should start carrying around paper so you all can see how crazy my mind really is...>_> <_< |

I still am keeping the idea of making a HL2 inspired movie. I will also use bits from my buddies bands last cd which is more like a storie with words you just have to listen to it. Plus the my buddy the guitarist looks like a chubby Gordon Freeman.
My only problem is I dont have a clue as how to make a screen play. Now stories and novels I am damn good at considering I have a very creative imagination.
Oh yea Congrats on the book. |

Demasu - That will work, in fact, that's what I do. I carry around a small notebook, and write down things when they come to me. Either complete(if I have the time), or just a notation that will bring back the whole idea. Something else you can do, is carry around a micro-cassette recorder, and talk your ideas into it. It's faster than writing, and sometimes, that's important.
Chaos - Screenplays(as I understand them) are very different in format from a novel. What I'm doing with mine, is writing the script, and the set designs separately. Honestly, I don't know if that's the correct way to do it, but that's the way I'm doing it. I have a file that contains all of the elements I want, with basic scene descriptions, but they are in a random order. I don't know if all of them will make it into the final script, but they should. It's kind of weird, going from a "story format" meant for reading(Battlestar Galactica - Star Trek:TNG crossover), to a "movie format" meant for seeing. I know of a local director(John Waters) who may well be interested in making this movie. It's very much along his style and sense of humour. I'm about a year into it, and have most of the scenes sketched out, and about 30% written.
It's a long process, but I think it'll be worth it. |

I'll try that sometime, and then I'll probably be a little freaked out about what comes out of my head, I mean I'm pretty sure I freaked out my psychologist when I had one(he also wanted to give me happy pills, which I have no clue where he'd get the idea that I'd need them either). |
