Finally, in an interview in the Japanese Radio show for Konami, Hide-chan Radio, Kojima confirms that MGS will be turned into a Hollywood movie. Now, from a game that was inspired from Kurt Russel's Escape from New York and LA series, comes a movie that might even outshine old Snake Pliskin. Since this is a game that has taken pride in its cinematic quality and sounds, the movie might be no different compared to playing the game. It is even possible that the movie might come short of what many have expected. Many questions came about, but in the end, the only thing that Kojima could answer was that he still couldn't tell us all the details about the film and the best that we could really do, is wait.
With Kurt Russel already past the prime of his years, he's definitely not in line to play the guy inspired from his old role. Then again, who is left to play our tactical covert op spy, Solid Snake? Will this movie live up to the game's success? In an interview with David Hayter before, Christian Bale seems interested in playing Snake. We've seen Hollywood bastardize many of our favorite games. Hopefully, they will take care of this one, perhaps using the same things that made Kojima think of creating Metal Gear to begin with. I'm sure, Kojima will take care of this project very carefully. Until then, all we have to do, is wait. |
Knowing Kojima, he said he wasn't going to have any participation in MGS3 or 4, yet he came back; it seems as if he doesn't trust anyone else with the series, it's his child. So I suspect that he will have a very large part of the movie when it enters production, and that's saying he's not the director which he most likely will be; as he'll be the one to write the story, and all. |
