So...what makes some scripts illegal and others acceptable? This has always been a "grey area" for me. The way I see it: scripting is a skill; and if some scripts are deemed "Illegal" because not everyone has the knoledge neccisary to write said scripts, thats just like making bhopping illegal, or having good aim. Not everyone can do those things. Or is it the accomplishments of the scripts themselves that make them illegal? If that is the case, what should one steer away from when setting up scripts. What kinds of scripts are considered "Illegal"? If someone could explain, that would be great. |

I would define an illegal script as a script that allows you to do something you couldn't physically do, like pressing the ~ key at the same time you're pressing insert while looking following something around in a circle with your moouse, something like that. |

This game is about customization they left the game open so where you can script to make things easier. Illegal scripts are basically ones that allow you to do things physically impossible like chop hop scripts or fullupdaterate scripts basically anticonc. scripts with _special are banned in leagues and most admins will ban people too if they see you using them. other than that there not many illegal scripts. |

yeah. anything that allows you to do something that would otherwise be impossible and give a significant advantage is, at leat imo, an illegal script. Though while technically you can't physically toss a flag while typing in "falg tossed %h %a" the advantage from that isn't significant, and is fine.
lol btw falcon we know you don't use/need scripts. |

yeah basically what kibbs and aud just said is right on the mark. You also left out auto-det (pipes) too...which is illegal.
And i also still believe! that theres a conc script out there that does the concing for you...it exists...and it's out there...you all kno! |

Autodet = hack
Conc scripts are hard to make and not illegal but would have to be specially fitted and customized to basically every server you went to unless they all had the same ping ^_^ |

Meh, I just made a "working" conc-script in about a minute. I can see how a "good" one would be hard to write tho...as far as the ping is concerned, once you got the script its not so bad to adjust it. |

you could use _special to det pipes the instant you shot them too, thats the autodet script.
rj and conc jump scripts are dumb, you lose control that way. |

i don't care what kinda quickdet script you are trying, your not gonna det pipes before the 1 second delay is over. I've spent way too much time trying to find a way around that, and there simply is none.
aud is right though, you'll never be able to rj or conc very well if you are dependant on scripts. you'll never get to use their full possbilities. |

The one legal (at least on pubs) script I've seen that is impossible to do is pipedown. God, I hate that script big time. Learn to pipe straight upwards, manually, no less, ya noobs!
Could someone tell me if pipedown is legal in STA? |

When using a pipe down script you have to change your pitchdown it it for it to lay pipes right under you. In STA the config that you must run due to STA rules locks your pitch down so you cant change it. So yea you cant use a pipedown script in STA beacuse it locks it. |

I dont think they have anything agianst pipedown I just think they do that so you cant exploit SG's |
