Second Life is a 3D online digital world imagined, created & owned by it's residents.
People actually make a "living" interacting in this world...unbelievable.
Hmmmmm.....

This sounds something like Project Entropia.
Some aussie guy spent $20000 and bought an "Island" and is now turning a profit after a year of people utilising his land. |

Wired magazine did a spread on the place in their latest issue. They claim that some folks are making a living (real) and not just a "living" (virtual) here. Its about 3 years old and is now up to a half million "residents". The game currency can be exchanged for US dollars. The exchange rate varies and some companies have actually invested in real estate in Secondlife. There are primative graphic objects that let the residents build the things you see in the game. You can also write code to make them do things in that world. They even have games and a thriving virtual sex industry. Lectures by folks like Kurt Vonnegut, a Secondlife Burning Man week that runs the same week as the real thing. Weird.
Just when you get used to the fact that folks are buying and selling WOW stuff on Ebay, it gets even weirder. |

I hate this game, so freakin confusing on how to make money, and there's a lot of lag even with all my settings turned down and connections turned up.... |

From all that I read, I've come to this one conclusion.....
This game is the PERFECT device for smart people to make money of dumb people. Not saying if it's a good or bad thing, but it's something. Until I have a strong skill that I can market efficiently enough, I'm staying as far as possible from that game. |

Well then, why not try
Second Life!
This time, try not to spend all your money on Big Macs. |
