Chips' Fun House ~ View topic - Scrips ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Should I use them?

First off. I know what scripts are, and have read up on them but still dont use them. Should I be? I saw for class's like spy and what not, scripts surely help with quick disquises and for engi tele and sg drops. But is it really that much faster. Ive learned on default menu drop and then select option, and it seems pretty quick. Also, about a bunny hop script. I dont use one and multiple times over, people have told me that I have a bunny hop hack. Other's say I do it naturally. Its not hard to time your jump. Bunny hoppin seems easy to me. Will a script help? Just seems silly. I have a mouse that has a million buttons, and use the sroll push button as the jump. The scroll up as reload and scoll down to change weapons. sorry to ramble, but will scripts help?

Also.... how do I script sound and text? I always wated to know. Im a Dumb A$$ so please help

It's a personal issue, some people think scripts are cheap, others use so many scripts they can play using 3 buttons. It's really however you feel.

More league players use scripts than dont, but you will find some scripts are considerd extreamly cheap. Any script using _special is not legit, you will be autokicked from many servers including any server that matches are played on. Demoman scripts are also considerd very lame, the funny thing is half the people that talk about how lame it is to use quick det scripts really use them.

do quickdet scripts actually exist mullet? i spent ALOT of time trying to script it to see if they exist, and it never worked. I did come up with a 'version' of a det script which worked ok... but it was a 'quickdet' script.

Bentdog, without a bunnyhopping script, the only thing that could ever bunnyhop constantly would be a computer/hook(which, of course, are illegal). You can get awefully close probably, but you'd never be exact, and it only takes a split second to screw up your bhop. Even a fraction of a second can throw off your bhop. Bhop is done by - #1 - you never fully hit the ground as you jump the split second you land. You gain speed in air by strafing back and forth in air(while not pushing the forward key). You can time it right by spamming +jump via a mouse wheel up/down. While this isn't a script, it can cause lag, or mess you up in some other ways.

For the most part, scripts allow you to be lazy. Very few of them allow you to do something you couldn't do anyway. Its technically *possible* to bhop without a bhop script, but the timing you'd have to be capable would be extremely, extremely hard.
Mullet was right about _special scripts, never use them. I do believe chips was either thinking, or did put in a thing which stops use of _special. Most other secure servers don't allow it either. I also suggest to NOT use demoman pipe up/down scripts, as you can pipe almost anything without these scripts as you can with them, and you will learn much more about demoman by not.

an example of a jump script (that works) is either:

bind space "+jump; wait; -jump; wait; +jump; wait; -jump; wait; +jump; wait; -jump; wait; +jump; wait; -jump"

or

bind mwheeldown "+jump"

the latter requires you to spam mwheeldown/up which can lag, the former is pretty standard.

I'm fine with scripts that don't alter your skill level, but if they aren't for speech, then don't use 'em.

yeah you cant just get a script and magically be better lol... I could give falcon a bhop script and he would still suck Laughing

you have to already know the concepts of what you are trying to attain, such as bhopping, you have to know to strafe and not use the forward key (aud lol) Very Happy
