AMD Dual Core 64 4600
Asus Crosshair MB
NVidia 8800 GTX (768 MB)
2Gigs of Corsair Ram
SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card
I bought Windows XP 64 and it was a load of $H|7. So buggy and unstable and the drivers suc. I fought with it for three days then went back to XP home. I'll be getting Vista at the end of the month, we'll see how that goes.
Anyhoo I'm running TFC at 1920 X 1440 resolution with 16 x anti aliasing. lol

lol, and you think xp64 is buggy you will cry if you touch vista, you just have to know where to look for drivers. I use planetamd64.com for all my items. buying a 64bit processor and using 32 bit OS is like buying a corvette and putting a VW motor in it . And since when does TFC support AA? |

Yah, x64 was rittled full of bigs and stuff.
But Vista is still Windows, so we'll be yelling at our computers once we try installing TFC and it freezes at 89%.
I don't think the origional HL supported AA very well, if at all.
Can you even play in a resolution larger then 800x600 anyway? |

On my "Old" Video Card (BFG NV 6800 GT OC) I could run anti-alias and force my refresh rate to run @ 85 HZ through the Nvidia control panel. So far I haven't gotten Either to work But I can run at the higher resolution. I may have to use Ntune to get it to work.
The other thing that pissed me off is I couldn't get the Beta 64 drivers for my Nostromo N50 game pad to work. So I bought a Saitek and it's awesome.

I even have my doubts as to whether vista will run TFC or not. |

screw vista. all the games are gonna come out for XP until after vista has a successor anyways. i'm sticking with XP pro. it's stable, haven't had it crash on me once in the past 2 years, and i know how to fix it if something happens. |

Vista WILL have capability problems.
When I ran the Vista Upgrade Advisor, it said some of the best games, like BF2, weren't capatible. STEAM itself may only be able to work, and TFC will be phased out due to TF2.
I say, be like my dad, and stick with tried and true (he still uses 98 ).
XP is here to stay. |

Yeah if Vista's gonna have problems, I'm sure Vista 64 is going to be worse (Which is on order). But that is why you dual boot!
Vista will work, but not this year. I just hope I don't have to triple boot with Vista 32. I do not need 4 operating systems... |

I think the only Serious reason people will buy Vista
is for DX10. |

eventually we'll have to upgrade, but what they need to do is make an OS for veteran computer users who know how to fix it, and an OS for people getting into it that don't know a darn thing. i'd gladly use Windows 98 if it could play all the games i want it to. |

Wow, that 8800 blows my x1900XTX out of the water, but we have pretty parallel systems otherwise. |

Until ATI can come out with their own Dx10 card, Nvidia's going to freakin own ATI out of the water.
Hell, unless ATI can come up with a better, or cheaper, alternative to the 8800's, Nvidia's fanbase will continue to grow.
But after Vista comes out, I bet most people will try Vista, then revert back to XP Pro. |
