I think I need I need a little help here because I don't want to go messing around with my steam settings.
I downloaded a DoD cache file hoping that it would have all the files necessary to play DoD. Turns out it includes a whole steal install. If I were to install that would it wipe everything else I've already got in there?
I looked through steam and it says I have to pay for it and I know that isn't the case becasue its a free mod for the HL1 engine. Does anyone know where I can get that file pack? Or should I just go install the thing I downloaded. Its 396mb. |

If you want to play DoD...and it's free with the HL1 install...why not just download it through steam.
If it's DoD Source...that's different. If it's not from a steam install...where's it from? Where did you get the file from? |

Where do I download it through steam? I'm looking but all I can find is where I can buy it.
I got this file from "gamearena" its like the hub for gaming in Australia. Its provided by our main ISP. Its not a source file, nor has anything to dow ith source. I made sure of that.
I remember when steam first came out you could download it with TFC and thats what i think I've got here. |

You should be able to install it through steam...just select it on "My Games" tab in steam. If it's available to you, it will show there as not installed. Just double click the game...and it'll install itself. |

It wasn't there. There was just TFC, blue shift, and HL1.
I'm taking a gamble and installing what I just downloaded. Hopefully it doesn't mean I have to reinstall TFC and everything again if it goes wrong.
I found the list of mods that you can install through steam . . . TFC nor DOD was there. |

If I remember correctly...DoD was not free. I believe I got the whole Valve back catalog with my initial purchase of HL2.
Delete local content seems your best choice...if you don't care to pay for it. |

Thats BS! The game was free on WON, why do they have to change the rules now?
Not happy.
Thanks for the help though Chips! |

DoD is free... i just installed half-life and it gave it to me..
then again, i also bought a copy of half-life off the shelves, i don't know if that would make a difference. |
