Just a question about Chevelle. Aren't they Christian Rock?

Neg. Their 1st album was with a record company backed by a Christian label so it ended up in Christian bookstores and radio even though the music wasn't "Christian Rock". That's what created all the confusion, but that record company fell apart and then Chevelle signed with Epic Records. The band has said it keeps their religious attitudes seperate from the music. I had wondered about this too and just looked it up. Not that I'd care either way, there's some "Christian Rock" bands I like to listen to sometimes, Red and Switchfoot come to mind.

I have looked it up too, but listening to their lyrics, I beg to differ. They sound extremely Christian if you see their lyrics. I think they just don't consider themselves that, so they won't lose customers. Just my thought on it.
And you have heard of Idiot Pilot sammy?

chevelle talk! and i missed it! AHH NO!!!! well its not too late!
yeah what sammy said is tru, their 1st company screwed them over, that why they signed w/ epic and all has been good so far...as for the lyrics, Pete writes basically all of them himself, he may be a christian person, but i'mm really not sure...howver in their new album vena sera, theres some curse words in there, like in the song humanoid...but also if ya ever seen them live, Pete does curse during the songs sometimes and on stage in which he changes a word or 2 around during the song, but they are not christian rock though considered.

Christian Rock doesn't mean they don't swear. I'm talking about lyrically, he makes references to Christian themes. In songs like Red, Antisaint, Grab Thy Hand, Evening with el Diablo, and Vitamin R. It justs sounds like he is Christian influenced. I know their first label was Christian, but it sounds like he enjoyed that which is why he keeps adding Christian themes to songs.

well i dunno AB, i mean really the only one whos knows what those songs are about or written from is Pete himself. However though i do kno the song Vitamin R is about one of his friends who has a.d.d., at least i think it was a.d.d. and what are these references lol, i'm seriously curious to kno what u mean or drawing ur conclusions from. I mean the name anti-saint of course and el diablo.

This is just what I've come across in research. You decide for yourself.
Grab Thy Hand: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chevelle/grabthyhand.html
Referencing walking with God?
Vitamin R: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chevelle/vitaminrleadingusalong.html
Referencing walking on water and Jesus being alone in the garden?
Red: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chevelle/thered.html
Referencing the red blood of Jesus on the cross and being singled out by the Roman soldiers?
I was mistaken about Evening with El Diablo and Antisaint.
Artist: The Smashing Pumpkins
Album: Zeitgeist
Song: 7 Shades of Black |
