No cutting apparently. He's gonna laser a silicone belt to the back of my eye, then fill the eye with gas. I have to keep my head facing down, all the time, for an entire week so the gas pushes the eye back against the retina.
This ain't gonna be fun.
Though, this will be the fifth proceedure on the same eye...I'm kinda getting very used to it. |

Ah, so you had a retinal detachment? Or at least a partial detachment? |

Just walk around on stilts, problem solved in everyway. |

So face down for two straight weeks. And you're not able to see very well? And you're groggy from the anesthesia?
Just curious, what hospital is that again? |

I know you're not stressing this too much other then concern with the results. But as parents, our kids get stressed seeing us hurt, injured, in the hospital, etc.
So a quick prayer that your family is OK while you go thru the procedure. Catch you soon, Chips. |

Ouch
After sleeping for most of the last six hours, I'm feeling a little better. I'm already finding it hard to stare at my feet constantly. It's making me disoriented despite the fact that I feel fine otherwise. This is gonna be a real test of will to stay focused. How well I stick to what I'm supposed to do will determine the inevitable outcome.
Tylenol is handling the pain...so it's not so bad in that aspect. I set up a small tv screen on the floor and I'm using my laptop with the screen flat on the floor and the keyboard angled and resting against my couch...seems to work so far.
You're right Angry...my cat won't come near me and my disabled son doesn't know what to make of the situation. Kinda weird.
Thanks to all for the good thoughts. |

Just dress in all black and cut your wrists, Chips, the staring at the ground should come naturally after that. But g'luck, I know there's no way I could remember I'm supposed to stay that way if I was in that position.
I'd just wake up from bed, stand up straight and stretch and realize... oh crap. |

Our thoughts are with you Chips. Heal well.
I think I would be tempted to get a massage table and spend as much time as possible lying down or sleeping. Rig up a TV under the table, get a NetFlix "5 at a time" subscription, and start wading through all 110 hours of Babylon 5. (again...) |
