For those of you who already know, me and a friend of mine decided to go on a trip to Japan ealier this year. Why? Because we wanted to, and its always been a place I've wanted to visit. I finally got around to uploading the pictures onto my computer and thought some of you might be interested.
- This first picture is outside the first hostel we stayed at (In tokyo). Pretty cool place, it even had a common room with tons of computers and pirated movies to watch. A fun place to relax and talk to random foreigners from around the world. I'm the one standing on the left. (I look wicked tired...more than 20 hours on a plane will do that to you.)
- This is a random picture of some weird buildings I saw in Tokyo. Apparently the one with the weird yellow squash shape thing is a beer company...
- This is the famous intersection where hundreds and hundreds of people cross the street at once. You've probably also seen this intersection in the movie Tokyo Drift, the scene where everone on the street parts perfect for the car to drift through.
- I can never eat ramen in those packages ever again after tasting this.
-This is a picture of the shopkeeper who sold me the ramen, he was real friendly and pretty funny too. He only spoke a little english, but enough to make us laugh. He also gave us a free desert.
- The only blooming sakura tree we could find. Apparently we were about 2 weeks early and missed the season.
- A really fun and very popular drumming game that was in almost every single arcade. If you notice I'm wearing a mask here, I didnt really need to, but i decided to buy a package just for fun. When I first got there I thought that maybe there was some kind of disease going around and people were scared of getting sick when I saw all the masks. Later I found out that THEY were the ones who were sick, and were being courteous enough to try not to spread it to other people. Just a small glimpse into the type of culture they have.
- Beer out of vending machines? Hell yeah.
- The second hostel we stayed in with the smallest rooms ever. Yes, thats it, the 2 beds are on the floor next to each other, and they take up the whole room. But I guess thats what you get when you pay 15$ a night
Thats all i'm going to post for now, maybe I'll put some more up later when I get around to it. |

And that looks like the amount of people on the corner of 33rd and 7th just outside Penn Station/Madison Square Garden every damn morning. Damn I'm glad I don't see that every day any more. |

You can get anything in a Japanese vending machine.
And Taiko no Tatsujin is a fantastic game. |

I remember reading years ago about a Taiko drum school on an island off Japanese coast where they start the day with 10 mile run, drum for hours and hours and have to perform all tasks with the non-dominant hand (eating, writing, etc.). I was in music school at the time. I still hate when people have it worse then me, no use complaining anymore . . . |

If you're an arcader, did you make your way to an arcade called Muthos? Its in Zama City...about 30 min train ride from Yokohama. Its only the best Bemani arcade in the whole world. |

One day I will play 2 Pop N Music machines at the same time. (First I'd like to just play one)
Do you speak any Japanese, bird? It's not really necessary in a big city like Tokyo, but I'm just curious? |

I tried to play Pop N Music, but it was really really hard. And no, I dont speak any Japanese. I have a friend who goes to college there who can speak it pretty well and she helped us out. |

I would love to go visit Japan, looks like a fun place to be. And the mask thing, is actually pretty common here too, maybe not so much with minor diseases like a cold or a respiratory virus that isn't serious, but if they have TB it's required, and if you don't do it, you can actually be legally held against your will in a hospital so that way you don't spread it around. So remember to listen to your doctor <_< Anyways, I'm jealous of you. |
