My daughter cost me more on texting in one month than the 3 phones cost me for a whole year. 
Needless to say, I had it turned off on her phone. He stupid friends kept sending her text messages even after she told them to stop...AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT. 
Using a PHONE to TEXT CHAT with people is the absolute stupidest thing evah.  Most times when someone was texting my daughter...they were right next to her. WTF !!!!!

i hear that. you know it only costs money when she looks at the text message? either that, or you service is weird...
all my friends hate the fact i don't have text, but i hate phones to begin with. i like being alone when i want to be, and not having to worry about people talking to me whenever they want to, even when i don't want to talk to them. granted, cellphones are very convenient, but i could do just fine without one. |

I've gone over $100 dollars over my text message limit with $0.10 per text before. It might, maybe have been cheaper than the long distance charge if I had just called instead, since I don't know what the charge for long distance is.  |

They all pretty much offer free nationwide long distance...we cancelled our long distance service on our home phone. With the fee long distance on our three cells phones, who needs it.

You have to pay when you view a txt?
WTF. Thats insane. You only have to pay when you sent them here.
I'm all for texting. Organising to go out with a big gropu of friends with txting is a breeze. Write the msg out once, send it out as a group.
Beats spending $50 calling 20 people. |

I think that thing about being charged only once you view a txt message is just a myth.
The phone service knows that it sends you a message, and that you have successfully received it. There is no data transmission when you decide to view the message.
I think verizon only charges to send messages, not to receive, but I'm not 100% sure. |

| yeah its like .10 per message for me also, but i dont do it too much, end up only doing maybe like 50 a month. My brother is the same way chips lol, he had to get a plan that he gets like 500 messages for like...i forget how much per month extra, but i think its like $20 maybe, i dunno. Thye even have it where you can get unlimited texting now for some extra $$ per month instead of paying .10 per message. I use T-Mobile. |

Old school....we would all agree to meet in a certain place at a certain time. Those that showed up made the arrangements for the night. If you missed it, oh well.....better luck next time.
Also, 5 or so years ago, there was NO text messaging. You guys think the world didnt exist or something how some people are so dependant on it.
And 10 years or so ago, no one had cell phones....at least nothing the regular person could afford. You know what we did.......we didnt waste half our life away on the phones. OMG.....we actually went outside to see that glowing orange orb in the sky from time to time. Rumor has it...its called the SUN!!!! |
