Here we go again...
This evening, for a few rounds, I'll be testing a HL2DM server:
Chips' Fun House / -[CfH]-Guild / HL2DM Server

Drop by and check it out. I'll be testing an admin tool and some new maps... |

instead og hl2dm, theres a mod that lets u build a fort around a flag/capture item.. like capture the flag/thing but u build forts for the first 10 minutes. |

The HL2DM matches we played last night were awesome!!! Loved it a bunch. I noticed a few "pointers" to pickup after watching PACIFIST and DARKONE play last night that I thought I would share with the new group (Me Included). I chatted a little with PACIFIST last night during game play and he advised the following:
1) In the game options, turn the graphics (VIDEO) down to medium where possible. It helps fps and movement in the game. The graphics are really intense, but after doing this I noticed improved movement and screen rates while not sacrificing graphics all that much.
2) Holding the shift key while running gives you a brief sprint "mode" that lasts about 10 seconds or so. Helpful in killbox and the other outdoor arena.
After I got booted last night, I got back in and browsed the map selections being played on the internet server list. Apparently there are several "crossover" maps from TFC that have been adapted for DM. Obviously we know about 2fort and gasworks, but I also found crossfire, well, a mulch map, crossover, and a few others. Just wanted to mention that as possible additions to the game.
I am going to start researching the voice issue for DM also. Ashley sounded great last night, but we were all muffled it seems. I'll dig into it and see what I can find.
Loved playing Team Deathmatch last night and hope we keep it as an alternative to TFC. CS was also great the other week. It's a nice change from TFC as we are all suffering different levels of burnout.
Kill on!!!!!!!!! |

1. Fps junkies :/
The reason for muffled sounds are because valve didn't put in the speex codec (what we use on the main server) we were left in the dark with the age old miles codec, which sucks. Takes up too much bandwidth. Voice quality also sucks on miles. We can't change it, valve has to give us the speex in an update, then we can change the sv_voicecodec to vaudio_speex. |
