August 28th marks the 7th Birthday for Team Fortress Classic.
Although I've only been playing a little less than 3 years, I'm sure some of you have played from the beginning. I've heard the stories of how much this game has changed since then and it's a shame valve seems to have given up on any enhancements or improvements these last few years.
Anyway...enjoy the little prezzies you'll see on the server when you throw some nades. I didn't turn em on...it's kinda an automatic thing valve does each year. I think it's actually built into the executable somehow...not really sure.
So if you don't like em...don't biatch at me. |

well said Chips. And it is real sad that they have given up on this game. It must have some thing to offer top a player beacuse it is still alive and kicking arse!!!
If i was valve i would at least give some thing back to the platform games that have built the foundation that they now stand on today. Just my opinion. |

Well, they DO continue to update the HL1 engine...
The only thing I don't like is not always knowing if that's a conc or a MIRV I'm trying to leech a ride from. |

That's because CS became their baby. TFC is just a weird game for people. And yes I've been around since the beginning. |

I think the main reason Valve has decided not to make improvements is mainly because eventually TFC is just not going to have any players. CS is basically what did it. Like the other old Valve games like Ricochet, Deathmatch Classic, etc., they aren't played by many players anymore, so there aren't improvements. I love TFC (unfortunately i don't have much time to play being in school and all), but it's true the older a game gets, the less players play it. Game companies strive for making new games or updated versions of ones that already exist. I know TF2 is coming eventually, and it won't be like TFC, but at least it's better than nothing. In 10 years, it's possible TFC won't really exist. Not to offend anyone, especially Chips, but I honestly can't see this great place running in 10 years. By then, Chips may not want to run it anymore, I'm sure it takes a great deal of time and energy to keep a server running besides running this website. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. I'm glad TFC has run for 7 years, however. |

The first time i played seems to always have been pretty close to what i've always had. I've never been able to do very well in CS, only a hand full of times above even kills/deaths. Only as a noobish sniper on some maps do i do very well. |

First time I ever played was on this clan server...or so I thought. They were all so rude and wouldn't help me or answer my questions. No one would even talk to me.
What a bunch of pricks that [FoX] clan has...

Yeah Chips, I've played with them before. They don't care about having any fun at all. It made me mad beyond belief. The worst server i ever played at in my life. I don't recommend anyone to play with those [FoX] clan members, the pricks they are.

Apparently, I don't have the whole story straight...It's Quake TF's birthday.
"The first version of Team Fortress, an add-on for Quake, was released on August 24, 1996."
So...Happy 9th B-day

Yeah i played there once (they are pricks), but the first on played on was one full of bots (i forget the name though), but i didn't know they were bots lol. Then i scrolled down and was looking for a server name that sounded cool and had good latency and i found FORTWEB.COM server, best place i coulda started out on...everyone helped and i learned sooo much from the regs and good players. Glad i found a server like that
Ps: Happy B-Day then to Quake TF |
