Did you restart after all the scanning and updating? Stupid question, I know, but still. Other than that, http://slashdot.org/ and check out the sony one, that might help a little bit. besides those, I'd just make sure you do a FULL virus and spy/adware scans. |

Do the "tweak test" first ... then "Doctor TCP".
You have a new machine and these tools can help you change settings in windows that will optimise your broadband connection. These tools helped me increase my speeds by almost double. |

The recommended settings from the tweak test.
Be sure to record (write down) the original settings before you change any of the values...in case there are problems, you can just change them back. |

Are you hard wired to the router...or are you wireless
That article in the steam forums is for those using "wireless" network connections. |

Then you have the same problem that Fly has...
http://www.chipsfunhouse.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1971
You can look at some suggestions there also. Wireless signals are prone to ups and downs...it's the nature of the beast. Many things can interfere with the signal.
It's perfectly fine to disable "wireless zero configuration" ... as long as you have a utility that came with your wireless card in order to control it. Most internal wireless cards DO come with their own configuration utility. If it's built into the motherboard...it may not have it's own utility.
What do you use now to control and configure the wireless signal |

If I'm not mistaken...that IS the wireless zero configuration tool built into windows. Follow the tips in the steam forums...that may be your only option at this point.
You weren't always on wireless...were you |
