anyone have any ideas?
the problem started when i reformatted my comp, if that gives any xtra ideas |

eh, well its not like all other internet things run slow, it seems sometimes it will take my computer longer to open any program or application... but it doesnt happen too often. and i really dont believe its my internet connection, i had before and still have cable, and the dramatic change happened in like 2 days from when i played before it and then reformatted, and tried to play again... and since then hasnt been normal... i dont believe its my internet |

i dont know, one reason i thought of why it was suddenly so bad is that i might have gotten rid of a driver that i had before, that i didnt reinstall after. i tried thinkin of what i might be missing, but nothin came to mind so i just put the thought aside. |

Formatting your computer really only happens one way, rage, and that way is pretty much just erasing everything on the HDD and installing everything again. So I can't imagine that being the problem, could be a driver issue, could be some virus or something that somehow got on after you formatted, not likely, but it's possible. |

what kind of connection do you have?
And what kind of a connection (direct, WiFi)?
I'm on WiFi, and my computer's internet has been running slow also.
it used to take seconds to instal a new map, now it takes 4-5 minutes. |

I would make sure you have the most up to date Video, Network, and motherboard Chipset drivers installed. If chipset is a little hard to track down, just focus on Network and Video drivers.
Create your own server with a random map. If you get any latency above 5 there is something wrong (Should be 0). Chipset or Video.
Join a server with n oone else on it but yet has what looks like a good ping. Go to an area with alot of stuff in it, spin arround like crazzy and monitor latency. It will normally get a little higher or FPS will get lower. IF things drasticly change, there is a video peoblem.
What other programs are installed on the computer? Always check the task manager (Ctrl-Atl-Del) and make sure nothing is hogging memory and CPU. Try killing everything other than the life blood of the OS then running TFC. If TFC works fine, do a trial and error elimination of the offending program.
If you have 256 MB of ram, upgrade.
Contact your internt provider and mention the problem along with the area you live in. With cable being a shared bandwidth system, there could be an above usual strain on the system, or there could be outage like problems. If your computer is portable enough, try someone's connection who has DSL, fiber, T1, or Dorm Room (basicly something broadband that isn't the same as what you have).
Blow out steam and reinstall it along with TFC. Corupt files can do lots of fun stuff. Defrag and chkdsk your drive too just to see if bad sectors are hurting something. |

Is 180-240 really that bad? I've played on Euro servers all the time on that ping, and the only things I've had to give up were conc and nade jumping. |
