Anybody else ever been fired due to this bullsh*t? Gah. Too many employees, not enough jobs after Christmastime.

It's very frustrating. I have to start paying for college here in a short while and they're like "YOURE FIRED LOL KEEP THE NAMETAG".

But anyways.

Maybe I'll be on the server more now until I find another job... Rolling Eyes

Seasonal downsizing, that's bullshizzle.
If companies were more concerned about their employees and not their personal paychecks, you would probably still have a job.

Stick around the server, it's the job you can't get fired from (but then again, you can't get paid).

And then the store folds from being overstaffed and everyone's out of one.
Sucks for you howling Sad. Go back to work at Chuck E. Cheese

That reminds me of Sprint a few years ago. The CEO laid off 3000 people, then the next week gave himself a $350,000 a year raise. Laughing Big companies are solely serving the upper management, not the regular people. *shrug* Just means you need to be the one doing the screwing, not the one being screwed.

Hang in the Howling. Cool

Seasonal work (like extra retail help at Xmas) is understandable. Many companies in different types of industries hire seasonal / temp workers. The thing is...you usually know that's the situation so you kind of expect the inevitable.

I spent 9 years with a company and watched them go out of business. I was laid off with 18,000 others. I then spent the next 14 years working for another company...and the same thing happened. Only 12,000 that time. Confused

This can happen to anyone...at anytime. Surprised

I do a lot of seasonal work (golf course) so I'm used to it. It really sucks looking for a job for the winter months though.

I can tell you, it hurts both ways. I own a lawncare business, first year in business, and had a employee who I would have loved to keep, but when fall arrived, I had to lay him off because there wasn't enough work to keep both of us alive. In fact, at this time work is so slow, I'm in a financial bind till spring. I've got arround $20,000 tied up in equipment and the company has to survive till the grass starts growing again. Hard decision but absolutly necessary. I'm hoping next year will be much better since I'm established and Hopefully I won't have a heart attack next march like I did last year . But layoffs in seasonal jobs are a fact of life no matter how much you hate it! Shocked

Well I'm in a couple concert bands throughout the winter and spring that will pay me about 200 - 250 dollars a piece, which will be nice. So I won't be completely out of money. I also managed to save about a thousand dollars (just in extra cash I never spent from my paychecks) in addition to my money I'm saving for college, so if I need dough I can always go into that but I suppose I'll just live cheaply for a while and keep applying to jobs.
